The Beginning
Armagh City Football Club was founded in 1964 as Milford Everton, based in the nearby village of Milford — famously the site of the world’s first penalty kick in 1890, thanks to local man and IFA president Lexie Hamilton.
The club won the Irish Junior Cup in 1977 and was renamed Armagh City in 1988. Two years later, it joined the Irish League B Division and, in 1993, moved from the Mill Field to its current home at Holm Park. The ground has since been transformed into a leading facility, featuring a modern 3G pitch.

The Middle
Armagh City FC currently competes in the NIFL Championship, showcasing a blend of ambition and grassroots pride as the club continues to grow within Northern Ireland’s competitive football landscape. Known for its strong commitment to youth development, Armagh City has produced notable talents such as Eoin Toal, who rose through the ranks at Holm Park before progressing to a professional career with Bolton Wanderers and the Northern Ireland national team. The club remains focused on nurturing the next generation, with a thriving academy and community-based programs that reflect our long-standing dedication to player development and local engagement.
The Future
Armagh City FC is focused on building a bright future by continuing to develop young talent through our successful academy system while setting our sights firmly on promotion to the top tier of Northern Irish football. Inspired by the journey of former youth player Eoin Toal, the club remains committed to providing a clear pathway from grassroots to senior football. With growing ambition both on and off the pitch, we are determined to bring Premiership football to Holm Park—giving local fans the chance to experience elite-level competition right here in Armagh.
